FREQUENT QUESTIONS
Can automated parts handling systems provide better accuracy?
Yes, automated parts handling systems pick and orient parts with unmatchable preciseness. This reduces the probability of errors to a substantial extent. Compared to manual parts feeding, automated systems tend to be highly accurate.
Which type of bowl feeder is suitable for high feed rates?
Usually, when you deal with feeding parts at a high rate along with unprecedented accuracy, you should go with Outside Track Bowl Feeders. They tend to be highly efficient in fast paced parts feeding.
What is a feeder bowl?
A feeder bowl is a device used to orient or sort products to be assembled, inspected, or packaged. Feeder bowls can be vibratory, centrifugal, or pneumatic powered.
What sort of parts can be fed in a feeder bowl?
Bottle caps, springs, housings, seals, washers, nuts, bolts, wheels, axles, pills, electrical components, screws, molded plastics. Just about anything!
How do all the parts get turned the same way?
Skilled craftsmen determine the amount and type of tooling required to achieve the proper rate and orientation of each particular product. The tooling consists of selectors, sweeps and turning mechanisms which use the product's own characteristics (shape, weight, composition, etc) to facilitate orientation.
How fast can the products be fed?
It depends on the product characteristics, and the size and type of feeder used. We have fed parts as fast as 2,000+ per minute and as slow as 5 parts per minute.
What is the difference between a vibratory, centrifugal, or pneumatic feed system?
Vibratory feeders are the most versatile, because they can feed the greatest variations in product shape, weight and composition. Centrifugal feeders can feed the fastest, but are limited by product shape. Pneumatic feeders are mostly used in explosion-proof environments where electricity is prohibited.
Does a single feeder feed only one part?
Not always. Products that have slight variations in size and shape can be fed out of the same feed system. We have tooled feeders to run up to 72 different pieces, with little or no adjustment.
